MD
Microdiscectomy for extruded (free disk fragments) and bone spurs
MD Procedure
This
spine
surgery procedure is reserved for patients who have extruded (free
disk fragments) and bone spurs. This minimally invasive procedure
is performed through a small incision using an operating microscope.
The free disc fragments and/or bone spurs are completely removed
and the wound is closed. Doctor Schiffer will sometimes perform
this procedure in combination with LED/TA (lumbar endoscopic
discectomy/thermal annuloplasty) for patients with multilevel
herniated discs and bone spurs.
LED/MD
Lumbar Endoscopic Discectomy/Microdiscectomy for multilevel disc
protrusions and bone spurs
This procedure is for patients with disc and
bone spurs at multiple disc levels. Please see the MD
and LED descriptions for further
information.
